  • The Dark Eye: Demonicon

We’ve all been there. You’re pulling your axe from the destroyed skull of some thorny creature, and you find yourself looking over your A.I. companions. You know the ones: the noble-yet-boring girl, the cynical guy, the comedic sociopath. Knocking back a healing potion or two, you wonder if the game wouldn’t be better if they were your real friends. Just think of all the fun you’d have bickering over loot, or screaming at them over Xbox Live to stop accidentally setting you on fire with poorly aimed spells.

Well, social salvation is coming, and it’s taking the form of Demonicon. This isn’t a Borderlands-ish action game with experience points. It's a full, rich RPG with moral choices, complex character progression, and a promised minimum of three solutions to each quest, plenty of which will be non-violent. The twist is, you’ll be able to play through the whole game in co-op.

At this early stage the guys at Silver Style are keeping quiet about how tricky stuff like conversations with NPCs will work during online play (stating only that the story will be told from a “slightly changed perspective”), but they did let slip that Demonicon will feature group-specific content, including dungeons tailored for teamwork. Yes! Dear Final Product, please fulfill your incredible potential. Love, OXM
